Do You Not Perceive It?
Pastor Gary Mason – Medicine Hat Family Church
18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18 – 19
I love the message that we are getting from God here. It is one of hope and encouragement. We need to remember that God has a great plan for our lives and wants to bring it to pass.
Let’s first make a quick note that God tells us to forget the past. You see God never looks to our past to determine our future.
Next take note of the fact that God wants to do something new, and that it will “spring” forth. The implication is that it will be something we haven’t seen before and that it will come suddenly. It doesn’t have to take years. It could come today.
The major point I want us to look at here is where the New King James version says, “Shall you not know it?” The Amplified Version helps us a bit and says it another way, “…do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it?” You see God wants to do something new and exciting, but it is up to you and I to perceive it and work with the new direction that He has for us, and the responsibility for it happening falls to you and I working with God’s plan.
All too often in Christian’s lives God is wanting to do something new, but the one holding it up is the one He wants to work in. You see in order for the new to come it often takes us changing something and most people don’t really like change. We are going to have to see that God wants to do something new and then we are going to have to change whatever it is in our lives in order for that change to come to pass.
You may not understand how God is going to make things happen in your life, but he can make a way where there is no way, and bring great refreshing to the weary. God will get you to the place He has for you even when there is no way to get there from where you are.
We don’t even have to know all the details we just have to begin to see that God is doing something new and begin to change and go with Him. Remember, God will get us there and He will refresh us when we are weary along the way.
